VACATION!!

Ocean City, Maryland 2010

Greg, Gavin, and I went to Ocean City, Maryland last week and we had so much fun. We were lucky enough to go with my parents and my brother so there are extra eyes on Gavin at all times. I am a bit of a worrier so it was nice to have many people looking out for him. I have to admit that going to the beach 7 months pregnant was not my best idea ever, but we have gone this same week since Gavin was 1 and in January when we planned the trip, I didn't even know I was pregnant yet.

The weather was gorgeous b/c it was not as hot as it had previously been. I am usually a water bug so it was nice that the heat cooled off a bit since I could not partake in the waves this year. I have to send a big thanks to Lori for letting me borrow her Nicholas Sparks' books so that I was occupied during Gavin's naps and downtime. I would have been very bored otherwise.

Enough about me, Gavin had a great time as well. He was mostly interested in the sand, but near the end of the week, he finally got enough courage to brave the cold water with Daddy and ended up having a great time.

One of my favorite pictures!

Gavin and Greg trying to fly his Spongebob kite!

Gavin and his dumptruck. He made a lot of "roads" in the sand.

Gavin can make friends with anyone, though he usually chooses girls (or they choose him, I am not sure). I'm glad that he found people to play with. It was so cute!

Finally brave enough to play in the water with Daddy. He really wanted to ride the boogie board.

Finally enjoying the water. He spent a lot of time running up in the water and then out of the water to my mom and I sitting in our beach chairs. He got a lot of exercise and slept very well at night!

Braving the deep water with Daddy and Pap Pap!

At night, Gavin loved going to the pier and riding Trimper's rides though my dare devil son was not so fond of the very strict height restrictions. He would go on everything if he was allowed to and there were a few breakdowns when he was told that he was too small yet. I know that he is big, but he is only 3!!

Gavin has found a new favorite ride. I have not allowed him to attempt the bumper cars at Knoebel's yet, but since there weren't a huge amount of kids I gave in. I do believe that I have created a monster though b/c Gavin went on these at least 8 times!

One of the bigger rides that he could sneak on without actually being measured by the attendant. It apparently wasn't really all that great to him.

Playing a game of Whac A Mole with Daddy.

We spent a day at Jolly Roger's Splash Mountain as well. Height restrictions were a problem here as well. Luckily, Gavin is having a great time on water slides right now and the 3 very generous kiddie sections had many of these to occupy his time as well. This was a favorite day of mine as well since I could sit and play in the kiddie areas with him and actually got to enjoy a day in the water.

Enjoying the slides!

Floating on the Lazy River with Daddy.

Another fun day was spent on the Duckaneer Pirate Ship. Gavin loved this and since this was something else I could actually do I was all for going. This is a very cute thing for kids. They get tattoos and get to fire water cannons at the pirate trying to board the ship. Very fun, but I don't recommend it for anyone that doesn't want to get wet b/c the pirate fires back!

Getting his tattoo. Wish mine were that easy!

X marks the spot for the treasure.

Fighting off the pirate!

It was so nice to spend this week as a family, but all good things must come to an end! Greg went back to work today and Gavin and I go back to school next week. I can't believe how fast the summer went! I just have to remember that I will only be at work for two and a half months then I get to spend more time with Gavin and getting to know our new little one!
